The position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, at the Hershel "Woody" Williams VAMC, Huntington, W.V. in the Medical Service. This position reports to the Administrative Officer of Medical Service and provides support to the Administrative Officer, Chief of Medical Service as well as other Section Chiefs within the Service, including the Assistant Chief of Medical Service, the Section Chief of the Emergency Department.
Duties
Duties may include:
The incumbent will collect data, track required measures of performance, and run various data reports.Incumbent will follow standard operating procedures for tracking and management of data.
The incumbent collects, organizes, reviews, evaluates, maintains, and tracks data related to programs, services, and staffing for the Medical Service
Develops training programs for users of service level personal computers and software packages and educational programs on an "as needed" basis for staff within the Service
Serves as the primary Automated Data Package Application Coordinator (ADPAC) for Medical Service
Incumbent serves as one of the primary Timekeeper for the Medical Service.
Extracts all available data from VSSC and Dashboards on assigned topics. Conducts queries within VHA's Veteran Support Service Center (VSSC) for staff productivity, outpatient access, and wait times.
Analyzes current data management procedures and practices to determine how effectively current goals are being met and how services could be improved.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 08:00am - 4:30pm

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Modify and maintain automated systems for tracking program effectiveness. Incumbent will assist in collecting data, developing reports and extracting canned and customized reports including Veterans Equitable Resource Allocation (VERA) reports (i.e., monthly, and annual workload reports, Complimentary and Integrative Health (CIH) Care allocations, enrollment, and costs). Creates computerized files, templates, and databases to obtain automated and administrative data used by the AO and Chiefs to assist with production of managerial reports for local, clinical, regional and VA Central Office purposes. Revises training content as hardware and software programs are modified/upgraded or as new resources are acquired. The incumbent will support the Medical Service in day-to-day operations, which may include assisting with travel and meeting space requests for staff. Incumbent will receive telephone calls for the Chief, Assistant Chief and the Administrative Office of Medical Service and handle/direct calls as appropriate in a professional and confidential manner. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, or driving an automobile, etc. No specific physical demands are required to perform the work.
Working Environment: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical or such places as offices, meeting and training rooms or other hospital areas. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. May require occasional travel and may be to locations that may present as uncontrollable environments.
