This position is located within the Mental Health Service, VAMC Huntington, WV, and is the primary data analyst and clerical support to the Suicide Prevention Program Coordinator/Case Managers and Vocational Services Program Supervisor. The incumbent of this position also provides support within the Mental Health Service to other clerical/administrative positions, and will also be called upon by the Mental Health Chief to assist with projects falling within their knowledge and skill levels.
Duties
Duties include but not limited to the following:
Assists in the planning, review and reporting of data/statistical results of programs/project studies.
Establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets and retrieves computerized data.
Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
Serves as the primary Fund Control Point Clerk for the Mental Health Service, ensuring orders are entered in a timely manner and that control points are maintained in accordance with guidance issued by Fiscal Service.
Serves as one of several primary and /or alternate timekeepers for the Mental Health Service, and will assist Payroll Technicians with timekeeping audits for Mental Health Timekeepers.
Serves as a member of the HR Functional Team of the medical center and will assist the Mental Health Service AO and supervisors with employee competency folders for mid-year reviews, annual appraisals, and required maintenance of the folders to maintain compliance with the medical center policies.
Responsible for tracking of all veterans seen as part of the Suicide Prevention Program within VAMC Huntington, WV, its CBOCs and clinics (Prestonsburg, Charleston, Logan, Lenore, and Williamson).
Performs work related to the acquisition and/or development of program information and resource materials/personnel to support the policy development and/or technical activities of the organization.
Provides specialized administrative/clerical and data analysis/management support to professional staff, Program Managers, Coordinators and Network staff as needed.
Work Schedule: 08:00 AM-04:30 PM, Monday-Friday

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
1) Maintains a variety of files for administrative and professional activities in support of accreditation and regulatory bodies.
2) Coordinates Caring Contact Support Program within Suicide Prevention. Creates publications for mail program.
3) Prepares, executes and/or tracks program specific data for compliance with Mental Health Suicide Risk Assessment, Mental Health Enhanced Care and Safety Plan. Prepares monthly high risk, suicide attempts and suicide completion reports.
4) Assists with research for policy development and provides maintains programs policies and procedures.
5) Primary Fund Control Point Clerk for the Mental Health Service and program supply management.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary in nature and requires walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as books, papers, medical records, etc. Occasional commuting between the Homeless program offices, the Medical Center and the local affiliated institution is required. No special physical qualifications are required.
