This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest.
Duties
Serve as the Geospatial Technician for the Walla Walla District.
Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), advanced modeling, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Perform Surveying and Mapping services.
Create contract specifications, Architect-Engineer (A-E) service contracts, contract drawings, scope of work, government estimates, negotiation of contracts, and field data collection and reduction.
Support large, multi-functional civil works projects during the planning, design, construction, and operation phases.
Surveying licensure and/or training is highly desirable and should be mentioned within resume if attained (e.g. Land Surveyor Intern (LSI), Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT), surveying related education or training, etc.)
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license
- Will be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- The work requires regular field work which involves physical exertion.
- This position includes regular and recurring exposure to hazards and conditions at construction sites or large hydropower projects.

GS-7 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes learning theories, principles, concepts, standards, and/or methods of fundamental surveying of field data collection. (Must be well documented in resume to be considered). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6).
GS-8 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience applying theories, principles, concepts, standards, and/or methods of fundamental surveying of field data collection. (Must be well documented in resume to be considered). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-7).
GS-9 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience applying theories, principles, concepts, standards, and/or methods of fundamental surveying, including basic topography or Unmanned Aerial Surveying. (Must be well documented in resume to be considered). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-8).
GS-10 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience applying theories, principles, concepts, standards, and/or methods of surveying with an emphasis in topographic surveying or Unmanned Aerial Surveying. (Must be well documented in resume to be considered). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-9).
GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience applying theories, principles, concepts, standards, and/or methods of surveying as they relate to topographic, Unmanned Aerial Surveying techniques, and public land surveying (e.g.) not Colonial metes and bounds). (Must be well documented in resume to be considered). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
