About the Position: he Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest. The District helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.
Duties
Execution and management of the Dam Safety field instrumentation program.
Ensure instruments are functional and that data can be gathered in the field.
Participate in inspections with specific attention to project instrumentation and potential instrumentation deficiencies
Review records of instrumentation and provide assistance in evaluating performance and safety of dams based on available instrumentation data.
Monitor performance and initiate action to document, repair and/or maintain dam safety instrumentation such as weirs, flumes, pumps, piezometers, transducers, pressure gauges and strain meters.
Requirements
- Pass federal background check.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% for official duties/training.
- Incumbent must possess a valid State driver's license
- This position requires the ability to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds specific to the position.
- The duties of this position require prolonged use of the computer which may cause eyestrain.

Specialized Experience GS-9: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience (1) collecting instrumentation data; (2) analyzing instrumentation data for trends; (3) investigate anomalies and recommend remediation; AND (4) repairing instrumentation equipment. (All four must be WELL documented in your resume to be referred to the selection panel).
Specialized Experience GS-10: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience (1) collecting instrumentation data; (2) analyzing instrumentation data for trends; (3) investigate anomalies and recommend remediation; (4) repairing instrumentation equipment; AND (5) independently coordinate with Operations staff and others to train other employees on data collection and storage. (All five aspects must be WELL documented in your resume to be referred to the selection panel).
Specialized Experience GS11: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience (1) collecting instrumentation data; (2) analyzing instumentation data for trends; (3) investigate anomalies and recommend remediation; (4) manage fild instruments and ensure they are functional; (5) independently coordinate with Operations staff and others to train other employeees on data collection and storage; AND (6) work with IT professionals to ensure data collection equipment meets mission requirements. Time in Grade Requirements: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-7) for the GS-9, (GS-8) for the GS-10, (GS-9) for the GS-11.
