About the Position: Serves as the Executive Assistant for the Command Group. Performs duties designed to relieve the Command Group of as much administrative detail as possible and contributes to effective public relations with a very wide circle of high-ranking military and civilian government officials, civic leaders, and others whose interests and activities are concerned with the command's mission.
Duties
Screen all correspondence addressed to the Command Group and directs to the appropriate staff member, or personally handles items of a routine and administrative nature.
Reviews all correspondence and action papers prepared for the appropriate Command Group Members signature.
Informs action officers of delays, adjustments in suspense and priorities, and other major changes as they occur.
In coordination with Protocol, Secretary to the General Staff and Public Affairs, arranges for visits by high-ranking military and governmental officials, foreign dignitaries and civic leaders.
Provides Command Groups guidance and makes recommendations as to itinerary and social activities.
Assist Protocol in compiling guest lists for official functions hosted by the Command Group.
Prepare written invitations and coordinates with Protocol for social functions held at the quarters, receives acceptances and regrets.
Establishes and maintains office files and directives of interest to the Command Group. Plans, schedules, and directs arrangements for activities hosted by the Command Group.
Serves as the primary Defense Travel System (DTS) Authorizing Official for USARNORTH Command Group.
Analyze office procedures to ensure they meet organization's needs and are consistently understood and followed in subordinate offices.
Establish, reviews and updates extensive, often complex office procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support and administrative management guidance; manage and schedule long range calendars; draft and finalize correspondence for signature of executive personnel; represent executive staff at conferences, trainings, or social events; identify key issues and events concerning management and ensure proper protocol, details and logistics are coordinated for civilian and military dignitaries
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resource Management or Administrative Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
