About the Position: The position serves as full Deputy to the ARNORTH G6, sharing fully in duties, responsibilities, and authorities. G6 is responsible for command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I). The Deputy is responsible for day-to-day oversight of programs and activities related to Homeland Defense (HD), Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA), and Theater Security Cooperation's (TSC) missions assigned to ARNORTH.

Duties

Responsible for continuous program oversight of the technology lifecycle and the technical aspects of the ARNORTH adjunct network and its strategic alignment to what components enable the ARNORTH business mission. Direct and formulate short- and long-range program goals that are included in the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence System Master Plan, (C4ISMP), VTC, telecommunications, satellite communications and IT assurance. Responsible for training/readiness and evaluation of G6 staff. Evaluate performance of subordinate supervisors and reviews evaluations made by subordinate supervisor of other employees on work and administrative matters.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Will be required to deploy within the NORTHCOM AOR on short notice (in under 24 hours) by multiple means of ground and air transportation, as directed by the Secretary of Defense in response to a Presidential Disaster Declaration (PDD).
  • In performing above duties, overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Incumbent will be expected to function in adverse climatic conditions and under intense physical and mental stress.
  • Must be capable, upon completion of training, of unassisted donning of mission oriented protective posture (MOPP) mask, clothing and equipment, or equivalent clothing and protective equipment.
  • Must be able to wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) or clothing such as boots, goggles, gloves, chemical mask and other safety equipment as required.
  • As a pre-condition of employment, any and all incumbents of this position must pass a physical examination.
  • Participation in the DOD/DA Immunization program to include live vaccinations as required by DOD/DA policy.
  • Employees may be required to wear an electronic pager and maintain a working telephone at all times.
  • Selectee for this position will be required to submit to a urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • Must be able to obtain/hold a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI access.
  • This position has a travel requirement of at least 25% of the time.
