You will serve as a Materials Handling Equipment Administrator in the Supply & Administrative Services Division, Code 345010 of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.

Duties

You will serve as a Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) instructor and evaluator, and provide powered MHE training to federal NRL employees and contractors, and evaluate the competence of current and prospective MHE instructors/evaluators. You will provide administrative support to the MHE Program Coordinator to include processing MHE license application packages; entering applications into the electronic system; and submitting them to the MHE Program Coordinator for review and issue. You will periodically inspect workspaces where MHE is being operated and ensure that operators are licensed and operating MHE in safe manner. You will serve as a support liaison to MHE operators, instructors, evaluators, and Safety Branch personnel, and responds to or forwards inquiries in timely manner.

  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current forklift license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least 3 years of general experience that includes one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-01/04) or pay band (NO-01) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. General experience shows the ability to 1) analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; 2) plan and organize work; and 3) communicate effectively orally and in writing. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
  • successful completion of a four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree; OR
  • combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
