You will serve as a Remote Sensing Analyst in the Image Science and Applications Branch of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.

Duties

You will conduct remote sensing processing and analysis supporting research and development initiatives within the NRL Image Science and Applications Branch. You will collaborate with other Remote Sensing Division researchers and analysts to develop concepts to enhance and augment data analysis procedures and identify new approaches or applications for exploiting remotely sensed data. You will serve as liaison to military and intelligence organizations to identify issues that could potentially benefit from advanced processing techniques. You will provide guidance to users on how to obtain maximum benefit from advances in remote sensing processing, algorithms and tools. You will provide remote sensing and geospatial subject matter expertise in response to technical requests for information from DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) analysts. You will coordinate field trial data requirements, manage data transfer requirements, and perform research support for SEALAB applied research projects. You will assist in evaluating SEALAB development efforts for relevance to DoD information needs and identify appropriate approaches for transitioning new techniques to support real world operational requirements. You will provide classroom and/or hands-on technical training on new remote sensing processing and analysis techniques to DoD and IC analysts. You will coordinates with operational customers to identify requirements and facilitate interactive discussions to identify approaches for addressing capability gaps and incorporating feedback to improve the relevance of Branch activities. You will establish a dialogue with potential customers to ensure they are aware of on-going and proposed NRL remote sensing initiatives that address their information needs and support their missions.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NO-02 pay band (GS-05/10 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following:1) conducting remote sensing processing and analysis supporting research and development initiatives to develop concepts to enhance and augment data analysis procedures and identify new approaches or applications for exploiting remotely sensed data; 2) utilizing technical expertise in remote sensor capabilities and geospatial analysis, particularly in processing, analysis and dissemination of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data; 3)coordinating field trial data requirements, managing data transfer requirements, and performing research support for various research projects; 4) producing reports of data analysis and test results, drawing conclusions, and providing recommendations for follow-on development related to remote sensing projects; 5) utilizing Government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) and Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) databases and software tools exploiting remote sensing data; 7) interfacing with Navy Labs and SYSCOMs, Department of Defense (DoD) Laboratories/Centers, DARPA, NASA, other government, industry and university organizations to identify potential collaboration opportunities. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
