You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PLANS AND POLICY OFFICER in the G-5 Division of MARFORCOM NORFOLK.

Duties

You will oversee the complex operational requirements in support of global execution in the national military strategy. You will develop deployment schedules in order to meet full operational plans with global presence. You will draft deployment orders, recommend resource participation for global exercises. You will manage subject matter experts in development of service and joint policy, and coordinating and monitoring plans, concepts, and programs. You will coordinate division reviews of Joint and Service orders, directives, and manuals. You will provide oversight on internal and external command relationships, ongoing and planned operations, training, contingencies, and exercises. You will interpret and enforce guidance related to planning documents relating to command operations. You will provide operational, technical, and administrative direction for high complex branches by communicating to teams and/or individually on conflict resolutions, work assignments, identify training needs, and EEO personnel management.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Direct the development, review, analysis, and implementation of operational/contingency plans, policies, and procedures for military strategy programs (e.g. ground, aviation, logistics, training); analyze complex situations to consider alternatives and resolve using viable solutions; and communicate with high level management (e.g. flag officers, senior leadership) presenting positions on controversial sensitive matters.
