You will serve as a REGIONAL OPERATIONS/POLICY/PLANS OFFICER in the of Regional Operations/Policy/Plans Branch, G-3/5 DIVISION MARFORCOM NORFOLK.

Duties

You will serve as the subject matter expert and source of continuity for the service doctrine, sourcing in support combatant requirements, contingency plan support to ensure consistent with existing and developing joint doctrine issues. You will assist with al matters involving the development, review, and coordination of policy initiatives, related exercises, response deployments for operations involving retained and/or assigned military forces. You will manage review of global balance requirements which support the mission objectives. You will serve as the command representative for the review and development of joint and service doctrine as well as the implementation and ongoing reviews of system support joint policy and procedures. You will provide guidance, advice and assistant on the support and update of service plans and documents. You will serve as a member of numerous working groups that review operational policies and procedures while providing assistance with both internal and external command relationships. You will be responsible for managing an aligned, engages, and high performing team through leading and executing mission aligned vision for the command.

  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or TOP SECRET (SCI) final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position will require Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) travel.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Oversee the analyzing, developing, and maintaining military doctrine, policy initiatives, contingency plans related to operational exercises and/or deployment responses; provides guidance, advice and assistance on joint doctrines relative to deployment planning processes and procedures; and communicate to a diverse audience on policy reviews and/or influence to achieve mission objectives.
