You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE/TECHNICAL SPECIALIST in the Security Division (105), Security Policy & Programs (1051) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.
The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $134,435).
The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.
Duties
You will serve as the Department Assistant Activity Security Manager (AASM) to apply policy direction to specific operating environments and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods.
You will serve as Department Leadership’s first point of contact for all non-routine security-related issues, concerns, and requirements.
You will assist the Information Security Program Manager in responding to problems or questions involving implementation of security guidelines for storing, handling, safeguarding and transmission of classified information.
You will audit and assess local security procedures for adequacy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
You will provide authoritative interpretation of security policy and guidance to Department Management officials, security/facility coordinators, and employees to resolve issues involving new and/or conflicting security requirements.
You will collaborate with department security coordinators to identify, research, and implement new and improved security methods and procedures identifying and analyzing trends in security weaknesses, deficiencies and vulnerabilities.
You will develop new guidance where existing policy fails to suffice.
Requirements

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Security Fundamental Professional Certification (SFPC) within 24 months of assuming the position.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower band, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical expertise and direction in implementation of security policies, plans, and procedures for security programs (e.g. information; physical; or personnel) to maintain organizational compliance and protective measures.
