You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE/TECHNICAL SPECIALIST in the Corporate Operations Department (10) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $134,435).

Duties

You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Special Security Office (SSO) by implementing protective measures that enhance the security posture of facilities, personnel and information in compliance with regulations for management of SCI programs. You will protect national security classified and controlled unclassified information and material. You will apply personnel security principles and methods to process initial clearances, periodic re-investigations, clearance upgrades/downgrades, continuous evaluation process, and to complete the adjudication and appeals processes. You will coordinate development of and document access authorization justification and rationale for positions requiring access. You will recommend and establishes eligibility determinations for access to National Security information in compliance with applicable regulations, directives and policies.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) certification within 24 months of assuming the position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical expertise and direction in implementation of security policies, plans, and procedures for security programs (e.g. information; physical; or personnel) to maintain organizational compliance and protective measures.
