This employee serves as a Program Support Assistant to the Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System, Nursing Services Line. This position provides assistance to four assigned departments consisting of the Nursing Supervisors (NODs), Transfer Coordinators, Float Pool, and the Rural Clinics (to include Page, Holbrook, Chinle, Kayenta, Tuba City, and Polacca.)
Duties
Major duties include, but not limited to:
Provides accurate and reliable information on the administrative functions of the service.
Interacts with managers, supervisors, and staff members on matters related to administrative services by attending meetings and serving on appropriate work teams/groups.
Serves in a support role in the leadership team and presents suggestions and guidance to lower graded administrative support assistants.
Maintains subject matter files and records that relate to the work of the department/program areas supported.
Recommends changes in policies and processes which will increase effectiveness.
Acts as secondary office timekeeper, in accordance with regulatory guidelines and use of VA Time and Attendance System (VATAS).
Serves as the Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC) for the Service Line.
Performs other duties, as assigned by the Service Line Chief.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/06/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Performing clerical/administrative duties in an office environment; answering and directing phone calls; preparing correspondence; maintaining files/records; and using a computer to perform a variety of support tasks. At this grade level, applicants should have good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to perform assignments independently with minimal oversight. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

Physical Requirements: The work requires extensive computer usage with many hours in each workday using a computer and other automated equipment. The work is performed in an office setting.
