You will serve as a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Support Services Division of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR. Pay Scale: GS-09: $67,147 - $87,291 per annum GS-11: $81,242 - $105,612 per annum

Duties

You will Serves as a technical advisor on Personnel Security rules, regulations, and procedures for PSNS and IMF Department Security Coordinators, Supervisors and Managers as well as tenant commands, ships force and contractor personnel. You will provide direct assistance to subordinates through internal training and counseling on all aspects of their responsibilities with the program office. You will screen and analyze various types of security investigations, ensuring completeness and adequacy of scoping and identifying derogatory information and falsification. You will provide notification of approvals and denials to appropriate personnel staffing specialists and reviewers.

Requirements

  • You must be able to obtain and maintain access for a Secret security clearance and eligibility for a Top Secret clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting security investigations and adjudicating eligibility for security clearances. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: responding to inquiries for verification of security clearances and conducting security interviews to obtain information associated with security clearance eligibility. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
GS-11:
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR
  • 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR
  • LL.M., if related.
GS-09:
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR
  • 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR
  • LL.B. or J.D., if related.
