About the Position: The Food Service Worker performs food preparation work and cashier duties. Work is primarily performed in a kitchen setting with long periods of standing and walking. Shift work is required to include a variety of early, late, and weekend shifts. The position is located at Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Moore, GA.

Duties

Set up cafeteria line, steam table, and food service counters with hot and cold food. Prepare fruits and vegetables for cooking and serving. Load food trays into carts for transport to wards. Wash dishes, pots and pans, either manually or by mechanical dishwasher. Operate cash register for storing and counting money.

Requirements

  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
  • This position requires the employee to wear a uniform, scrubs, or other appropriate medical professional attire while on duty.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Food Service Worker tasks. I can arrange salads, desserts, juice, and sandwiches for dining room; replenish cafeteria lines and food service counters with hot or cold food; clean chairs and tables in dining rooms; load food trays into carts for transport. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Work Practices PHYSICAL EFFORT The employee exerts moderate physical effort when lifting or moving objects weighing up to 40 pounds. The work requires pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. Use powered cleaning equipment. Requires continuous standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. WORKING CONDITIONS Works in a kitchen environment with constant exposure to steam and heat from cooking and the dishwasher. Environment often uncomfortably hot, noisy and humid. Danger of slipping on freshly mopped floors or on floors where food has been spilled. Danger of cuts or serious burns due to exposure to hot liquids, sharp blades, and hot surfaces. Exposed to constant temperature changes when going from kitchen to refrigerators and freezers. Work area has adequate lighting.
