About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located within the Clinical Support Nutrition Care Food Production and Services at the Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Moore, in Columbus Georgia. The primary purpose is to serve as a Food Service Worker Leader to 4-5 employees using judgment in assigning tasks and providing direction.
Duties
Respond to workers questions regarding procedures and other directive technical orders.
Review work in progress for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods to meet deadlines.
Verify equipment has been cleaned, sanitized and maintained after use to meet established standards.
Verify safety and sanitation rules are enforced to maintain orderly work area.
Distribute food items and beverages in accordance with established standards and specific diet orders.
Pass instructions and assigned tasks received from supervisor to co-workers to provide direction.
Retrieve trays following meal schedules, removing left over food from tray to maintain cleanliness.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of inclement weather conditions, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires heavy lifting up to 45 pounds.
- This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
- This position may require rotating shifts that may require evenings, weekends, holidays, varying work schedules and on-call.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Food Service Worker Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common duties such as assembling all food items required for modified or regular diets; assisting in delivery of trays to patients; Setting up hot and cold food on cafeteria and patient tray lines. Work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort - Work involves continuous standing and walking, mainly on concrete floors. Incumbent is subject to injuries from equipment used. Lifts up to 45 pounds, and with assistance weights up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions - Work is performed predominately in the Patient Tray Service located adjacent to kitchen and dining rooms. Incumbent is exposed to dirt, grease, and water in cleaning tasks and is subject to extreme temperatures in storing and assembling items from walk-in refrigerators.
