About the Position: This position is located within the Nutrition Care Food Production and Services Dept. at the Martin Army Community Hospital Fort Moore in Columbus, Georgia. Incumbent will be responsible for preparing a variety of food and beverages; cleaning food service trays, pans, dishes and work areas; and operating a cash register to process payments.
This position involves a schedule with rotating shifts early shift 0600-1430; late shift 1000-1830. Holidays and weekends are included.
Duties
Set up and replenish food service counters and steam tables with hot and cold food.
Break down and clean the station after the serving period.
Disassemble, clean and reassembles dish washing machine after use.
Operate Cash system to enter order and receive payment.
Serve hot and cold foods to cafeteria customers.
Label and date equipment and food in accordance with policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires rotating shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
- This position requires the wear of personal protective equipment.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a hepatitis screening.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires incumbent to wear assigned uniform.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the common Food Service Worker tasks. I can prepare cold items such as sandwiches, salads, and fruit; stock utensils, cups, and condiments for customers; clean food preparation areas and kitchen equipment. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Continuous walking, standing, bending and reaching are required. Guides automatic food carriers weighing a maximum of 100 pounds up and down hallways and elevators. Lifts up to 40 pounds on occasions.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a clean, well-lighted area with warm temperature in the winter and very hot temperatures in the summer. Uses and cleans electrical equipment such as food carriers and reach-in refrigerators requiring use of detergents. Is subject to falls on floors made slippery by spilled liquids and foods, burns, and extreme changes in temperatures from working area to service halls.
