About the Position: The primary purpose of this position is to provide instruction in all areas of medical and non-medical equipment and support equipment to include assembling, erecting, connecting and repacking of Deployable Medical Systems (DEPMEDS). The GS-1712 series covers positions concerned with administration, supervision, training program development, evaluation, or instruction in a program of training when the requirement of the work is a combination of practical knowledge.

Duties

Provides instruction in all areas of medical and non-medical equipment and support equipment. Instruction includes the procedures involved in assembling/erecting/ and/or connecting. Maintains instructional expertise and research changes in technical manuals, procedures, regulations, modifications, or any changes that will impact training materials or methods. Cleans and conducts preventative maintenance checks and service (PMCS) on all support items of equipment according to Army procedures. Conducts tours of the training site explaining all medical and non-medical equipment within the DMSET. (65%) Assists MEDCoE Instructional Systems Specialist (ISS) by making recommendations for lesson plans. Sets up and observes training exercises, providing on the spot correction and assistance to students.

Requirements

  • Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license, State of Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License, and any installation, DOD and/or Federal license or certification required to operate the M1148.
  • This position requires a physical exam in accordance with Occupational Health requirements.
  • This position may require heavy lifting (in excess of 45 lbs).
  • May be extreme weather conditions, may need to wear protective equipment e.g. respirators, safety glasses, etc.
  • This position requires that the employee occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 10% of the time.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Medical Education. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
