About the Position: The position performs work as a Supervisory Training Instructor (Behavioral Health) and is located at the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (USAMEDCoE), Department of Force Health Protection, 188th Medical Battalion, Division of Behavioral Health Sciences, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The Incumbent plans, adapts, and develops educational materials, selects teaching formats and conducts teaching activities.
Duties
Supervises a group of employees engaged in administrative and training functions.
Responsible for the administration and ongoing fiscal management of the assigned courses, which includes all training initiatives which fall under the Training Section.
Develops educational materials and educational techniques ensuring consistency with course objectives, teaching soundness, and conformity to policy and requirements.
Utilize implementation efforts for Soldier deployment, life cycle, and support cycle initiatives.
Review quality control initiatives to develop after action reports with recommendations for corrective actions to the program.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete or possess a certificate the Faculty Development course within 12 months of employment and periodic monitoring by the staff and faculty development division of the MEDCoE.
- This position has a travel requirement of at least 25% of the time.
- This position has been identified as Mission Essential. In the event of emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience service that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction which includes instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment for behavioral health professionals; supervising and administering a training program for a training center encompassing military and civilian personnel; developing long and short-term priorities in support of the training mission; analyzing training materials and instruction delivery to meet the organization's learning objectives; completing modifications to training curriculum based on technological and doctrinal changes and/or new developments in the field. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
OR
Education: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education with a major study in education with a major study in behavioral health (such as MSW, PsyD, or PhD) or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, education, instructional design, or training and development.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
