About the Position: Serves in the Environmental Health Branch, Public Health Division at the Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE), Fort Sam Houston, TX. Incumbent is responsible for the coordination and synchronization of administrative and logistical requirements for student training.
Duties
Write lesson plans and other elements of curriculum development, information papers and other staff actions, and technical documents.
Conduct validations, analyzes results, reports on validation, and review course materials and test as required.
Create training situation and procures required training aid to enhance situation awareness.
Conduct training for Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Reporting System-Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain Secret background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- This position requires moderately strenuous physical requirements to include being outside during extreme weather (hot and cold) and walking through uneven terrain to evaluate students.

Individual Occupational Requirements:
Education - Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
Experience - Specialized Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
Supervising or administering a training program.
Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: assisting in developing training strategies, training plans and material systems for the organization; conducting reviews of course materials, aids, and devices to evaluate training results; researching technology and technical data to improve the efficiency of training programs; AND identifying deficiencies and training needs to acquire needed equipment to meet the organization's training mission. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Education or Instructional Design.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
