You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICAL) in the HM&E ENGINEERING DEVISION (CODE 262), ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT (CODE 200) of SOUTHEAST REG MAINTENANCE CTR SERMC.
Duties
You will provide technical assistance on urgent mission-degrading casualty reports (CASREPS) and less urgent but complex technical problems.
You will serve as team or group leader providing technical oversight of organized teams.
You will allocate work associated with complex technical engineering projects which require resolution prior to or during the maintenance and/or modernization of shipboard systems equipment.
You will analyze engineering guidelines and practices to assist in solving engineering problems.
You will research, analyze, interpret, and evaluate to determine the nature of engineering support needed in the resolution of each incident.

- This position requires incumbent to perform Temporary Duty travel approximately 15% of their time. Travel may be on short notice and/or for extended periods of time.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CP) certification via command sponsored CPR training and annual refresher training in accordance with OPNAV 5100.23D.
Qualifications
to qualify for a GS-12, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience inspecting and assessing discrepancies for Total Ship Readiness Assessments (TSRA) on 60 HZ Power Generation Equipment, 60HZ Power Distribution Equipment, 400HZ Power Conversion Equipment, 400HZ Power Distribution Equipment, Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS), Degaussing Systems, and DC Power Converters. Report findings on the ship's Consolidated Ships Maintenance Plan (CSMP) during a formal assessment periods.
Experience performing regular, scheduled inspections and assessments as part of an INSURV team and for Integrated Class Maintenance Plan (ICMP).
Provide formal written reports on findings, discrepancies and repair recommendations utilizing the Technical Assistance Visit Report Process or equivalent applicable reporting process.
Experience serving as Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) Subject Matter Expert for 60 HZ Power Generation Equipment, 60HZ Power Distribution Equipment, 400HZ Power Conversion Equipment, 400HZ Power Distribution Equipment, Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS), Degaussing Systems, and DC Power Converters on USN ships.
Experience providing technical assistance to diagnose and correct problems beyond the capability of Ship's Force, IMAs, repair activities and AITs.
Experience investigating technical problems for ship maintenance availability support that will require resolution of new installation problems and designation of new testing requirements to suit Navy technical standards.
Experience troubleshooting, repairing and testing electrical and electronic components, cabling and wiring on cognizant systems. Where technical guidance is not available, the incumbent will be required to develop technical repair documents and testing criteria.
Experience training ship's force personnel in the proper use, maintenance and repair of USN ship cognizant systems and components.
Experience ensuring proper documentation of the Electrical Support Branch work through the following documentation methods: Departure from Specification (DFS), Engineering Service Requests (ESR), Liaison Action Requests (LAR), TASS-Info, FTA and ICMP Visit Reports, technical reports, proposals, white papers, and other documentation methods as needed.
Experience using of Microsoft Office software for communication and documentation.
Experience effectively communicating both verbally and writing.
