Duties
You will develop, coordinate, and administer the volunteer program for the museum by advertising for, recruiting, and screening and day to day management of volunteers.
You will coordinate closely with other museum departments within the organization to ensure command and volunteer needs are met.
You will arrange and manage volunteer events, assist in museum events, and assign requested jobs to the volunteers.
You will provide history and heritage programming to naval personnel, students, and the general public in the form of museum gallery tours, classroom instruction, and power-point presentations.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector utilizing principles of volunteer management or management of subordinates to provide assistance with planning and coordinating volunteer programs. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Recruiting volunteers; 2) Managing and scheduling volunteers; 3) Planning an effective volunteer program; 4) Organizing volunteers to support all museum operations including tour guides, information desk workers, greeters, researchers, etc.; and 5) Supplying professional staff support to volunteers.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Education
The following education may be used as a substitute for experience:
A master's degree or equivalent graduate degree.
OR
Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree.
OR
LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled.
