This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all personnel have the requisite clearance to access classified information and administering the Joint Staff Component Personnel Security and Privacy Programs.
Duties
As a SUPERVISORY PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST at the GS-0080-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Serve as the Joint Staff "technical authority" with responsibility for oversight and policy development for all Personnel Security and Privacy Program elements.
Performance of duties requires knowledge of management principles in order to effectively plan, implement, and set program goals and make decisions concerning mission objectives and resources; ability to communicate effectively in writing and in personal contacts with technical, professional, and management personnel; and supervisory management skills and knowledge.
Provides advice, guidance, and direction to all Joint Staff command and staff levels regarding policy interpretation and application, resolution of particularity difficult problems and circumstances, implementation and application of new techniques and systems, and other areas where assistance is required.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-14 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
Ensuring organizational personnel are adhering to established policy and practices and take appropriate action to correct deficiencies.
Establishing and implementing personnel security policies, procedures, and training.
Establishing reinvestigation programs as part of a continuous evaluation process.
Conducting special studies such as business case analysis, cost/benefit analysis and risk analysis.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
