About the Position: Serves as Training Instructor managing the course material to providing training materials and aids as needed, and conducting platform instruction, practical exercises and examinations located in Fort Eustis, Virginia.

Duties

Performs training development and instructional work within the 128th Aviation Brigade. Develops programs of instruction (POIs), lesson plans, advance sheets, practical exercises, and other related materials for student use. Provides advice and guidance to associates, students and graduates on an informal basis. Performs platform and practical instruction to students including platform instruction, administration of practical exercises, and proctoring of tests and evaluations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain Secret background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain Instructor training certification, Common Faculty Development per TRADOC regulation 350-70 within 6 months of employment and recertify every 5 years.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Individual Occupational Requirements Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. OR Experience: Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing lesson plans and examination questions for rotary wing aircraft training; identifying and revise course materials to meet student's needs; AND reviewing technical materials and manuals related to the course to identify impact on current rotary wing aircraft curriculum. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Teaching or Education. OR Combination Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Instructional Delivery and Learner DevelopmentOral CommunicationTechnical CompetenceTraining and Education Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-07.
