About the Position: This position is located in the US Army Sustainment Command, Logistics Readiness Center, located in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. This is a Planned Management Action.

Duties

Serves as leader of transportation assistants engaged in personal property and passenger travel functions. Reconciles a Central Billing Account. Resolves complaints from employees; refers group grievances and unresolved complaints to supervisor. Provides advice and information to service personnel, DOD civilian personnel and family members regarding weight authorizations, unaccompanied baggage allowances, shipping POV, mobile homes, weapons and special items requiring insurance coverage. Compiles and maintains information for reports to monitor/manage travel and personal property performance trends. Reviews applications and completes passport applications for Department of Defense (DoD) sponsored overseas travel departing the service area.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a Tier 1(NACI) security investigation.
  • This position may require the incumbent to Travel (TDY) up to 5% of the times.
  • This position requires the incumbent to serve a one- year probationary period.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the federal service which includes 1) Providing counseling and assistance on transportation services such as (property shipments, travel) to DoD personnel and their families 2) Arranging travel, 3) Reviewing and completing Passport applications and 4) Reviewing transportation guides and regulations covering government and commercial travel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityCost Estimation and AnalysisCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Organizational Awareness Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
