About the Position: This position is located with the Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Fort Jackson SC.
Duties
Directs, coordinates, and reviews overall operations of the team.
Prepares written documents and/or presentation materials that are clear, concise and understandable.
Orient new subordinates, determines training needs and assures necessary on the job training needs are filled.
Provides counseling and assistance on a wide variety of transportation services to DoD personnel and their families.
Inspects Contractor's performance at owner's residence and at warehouse during packing crating, loading, shipping, unloading, uncrating and unpacking.
Process inbound/outbound inspection data through Transportation Operational Property System (TOPS) and/or other required systems.
Advises property owner of the service to be expected from the carrier.
Ensures customer inventories are completed and reports on damage and missing items are accurate.
Prepares damage inspection reports completed at shipper’s residence or warehouse.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Background Investigation is required.
- Temporary duty travel of 10% may be required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate valid state driver's license.
- May be required to work shift work, weekends, holidays, or on-call duty.
- Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government vehicle operation certificate, within 30 days of employment.
- Weather Essential, may be required to report during inclement weather events to perform duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing damage inspection reports; identifying deficiencies in packing methods and requirements;inspecting contractor's warehouses to determine that storage methods are proper; providing counseling and assistance on a wide variety of transportation services to DoD personnel and their families. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
