You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Specialized Munitions Division (JXR), Non Destructive Test & Eval Branch (JXRM) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.
The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. The salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $134,435).
The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14.
Duties
You will serves as technical lead for shock and vibration testing of systems in the Environmental Test Lab located in the Non-Destructive Test and Evaluation Branch (JXRM).
You will serve as the subject matter expert for standards, instrumentation, and test methods related to the dynamic testing of systems to include ordnance items.
You will coordinate dynamic testing, establish procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, and incorporate new test equipment/techniques, and data acquisition/instrumentation methods.
You will verify customer’s technical, schedule, and cost requirements are being met.
You will plan approaches to complex problems, exercising considerable judgment in making sound technical compromises and decisions.
You will consult with other technicians, project engineers, middle management from within NSWCCD and contractors to exchange information, coordinate on projects and resolve complex engineering and administrative problems.

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
- Work generally takes place in an office environment and technical laboratory at various locations on Center and may involve travel outside of NSWC Crane.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering leadership and guidance in research and testing of shipboard machinery, equipment, or systems, to include ordnance items for sustainment of warfare programs.
