You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Special Warfare & Expeditionary Systems Department (JX). Specialized Munitions Division (JXR), Non-Destructive Test & Eval Branch (JXRM) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.
Duties
You will serve as the Chief Technologist for Radiographic Evaluation for specialized munition systems.
You will provide division technical leadership across all disciplines of Digital Radiography used in technique development, testing, and sustainment of selected weapon systems.
You will serve as a subject matter expert and technical leader for the development of radiological screening techniques, approving all nondestructive inspection techniques.
You will research and gain knowledge of advances in radiographic technology that have application to future systems or would enable improvement of existing systems.
You will utilize expert knowledge of nondestructive testing methods, to conduct or direct the training and examination of testing supporting personnel.
You will be engaged with academic partners, industry partners, warfare center community, and Department of Defense (DoD) in advancing the science of
Radiography.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
- Work generally takes place in an office setting and technical laboratory at various locations on Center and may involve travel outside NSWC Crane.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band,
NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent grade level) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and developing technical engineering methods and techniques to provide technical leadership and guidance on test and evaluation projects, to include oversight of radiographic inspections and assessments of munitions systems in support of a weapons program.
