Duties
Elevate DISA’s brand and reputation by educating, informing, and inspiring internal and external audiences about what DISA does with the purpose of creating, strengthening, or preserving conditions favorable to U.S. national security.
Unify DISA’s strategic messaging through the production and dissemination of timely, accurate, and authoritative information related to DISA’s mission, capabilities, and services.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with media organizations, specialized groups, and other DOD and federal agencies and offices to bolster communication and unify DISA public affairs activities.
Reviews and approves all externally released products for accuracy, brevity, clarity, style, and branding and coordinates release approval through applicable authorities as required.
Monitors and analyzes external media coverage for the Director and agency leadership and identifies relevant, emerging topics of importance to the agency.
Supports the agency’s external engagement process, vital to engaging with external audiences through appropriate and targeted opportunities.

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- This is a mission essential designated position.
Qualifications
Time in Grade:
For entry at the GS-13 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-13, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-12 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience at the GS-13 level is defined as having experience in public affairs planning, directing, and executing local and/or national campaigns, preparing talking points and speeches for senior leaders to present during internal and external public engagements; conducting research using computerized research tools and interviews with technical and subject matter experts; and surveying and analyzing news coverage of an agency's activities.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing competencies are required.
