You will serve as an AUTOMATED APPLICATIONS COORDINATOR in the MECHANICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will be the technical authority on the implementation, use, and control of the Parts Tracking System and Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems. You will be the Point of Contact (POC) on the shipyard for the Parts Tracking System (PTS) encompassing all aspects operations and functions. You will be responsible for the administration of shipyard Tool Control System and ensure all users are properly trained. You will evaluate system’s capabilities, determine the needs, and identify necessities which can be improved by computerization.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience serving as systems manager for the development, implementation, and use of computer systems. Experience maintaining the Local Area Network (LAN) and having a strong understanding of its operational system network of personal computers and printers. Experience utilizing Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) functions and Automatic Data Processing (ADP) in an industrial setting. Experience installing programs and hardware, as well as troubleshooting systems to resolving diverse and complex problems caused by the malfunctions. Experience reading, interpreting, developing instructions and procedures relative to system operation, interface, and acceptable work performance. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Possession of an LL.M. that is related to this position being filled.
