The primary purpose of this position is to manage the host installation safety and nuclear surety program; provide integrated support to enable seamless nuclear operations to meet national strategies; ensure safe, secure, effective operations. Deliver full spectrum support to numerous Mission Partner organizations and diverse missions across the installation.

Duties

Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the 377th ABW. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Represents 377 ABW Commander with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates activities necessary to the overall management of the installation nuclear surety program.

  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

  • Incumbent must possess adequate progressive experience in safety operations and nuclear surety.
  • The position may occasionally require work outside normal duty hours, over weekends and holidays, and travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • The position is largely sedentary but may occasionally require prolonged periods of standing, walking, or exposure to adverse weather conditions

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, GS-0018, Safety and Occupational Health Management Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of safety and occupational health managing safety or occupational health program elements, developing safety and occupational health policy, applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures. Resolving technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements, developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards, developing or implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses, analyzing or evaluating new and existing jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the existence, severity, probability, and outcome of hazards, designing or modifying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems to control or eliminate hazards, inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards, training of workers, supervisors, managers, and other duties that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Comprehensive knowledge of DoD and AF nuclear surety programs/enterprise policy, explosives safety standards, DOL and AF safety and occupational health principles, range safety practices, procedures, and laws. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
