DUTIES:
Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short/long-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
Serve as the technical authority in planning, organizing and overseeing the activities of the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Safety Office, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs.
Represent the AFNWC Safety Office with a variety of AFNWC, wings/complexes and functional area organizations. Establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with DoD officials, AF/SF commanders, other MAJCOM personnel, AFMC directors and personnel, base commanders, Complex commanders, other unit commanders, employees, managers, senior management officials, managers and safety specialists from operating commands, other DoD installations, contractors, safety and health professionals from the Federal and State Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and representatives of societies and national safety associations.
Act as an AFNWC single point of contact for Safety Management activities. Provide team leadership in planning and scheduling work in such a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution and ensure effective use of organization resources to achieve organization goals and objectives.
Conduct comprehensive safety staff assistance visits and safety inspections of each AFNWC subordinate organization to ensure compliance with Air Force safety criteria. Evaluate operations to detect unsafe practices, operating conditions, or inadequate safety programs and makes on-the-spot recommendations to rectify any deficiencies noted.

- Required to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- Supervisory requirements may be required depending upon the position being filled.

- Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Incumbent must possess adequate progressive experience in safety operations and management of safety programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Comprehensive knowledge of industrial and manufacturing procedures and work processes, aircraft ground operations, shop machinery design, material handling procedures, toxic and hazardous materials, and compressed gases sufficient to ensure employees correctly develop, organize and execute comprehensive surveillance and evaluation programs.
Knowledge or pertinent elements of engineering principles, methods and techniques, and identification and control measures used by industrial hygienists and fire prevention personnel sufficient to review, evaluate, and advise on a wide range of activities inherent in an occupational safety and health program.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
