Duties

Coordinating with the Transition Assistance Program (TAP), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Labor (DOL), and other agencies to ensure soldiers meet transition requirements; and ensuring Preparing DD Form 214s. Responsible for the operation of personnel actions relating to Expiration Term of Service separations, Voluntary and Involuntary Chapter actions, Unqualified Resignations, Release from Active-Duty separations, Medical Evaluation Board decisions. Establishes local policies and procedures to ensure officer and enlisted Soldiers are transitioned in accordance with existing guidelines, policies and governing regulations. Ensures compliance of Human Resource policies at the local level. Assesses impact on current methods and develops new implementation procedures.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Occasional travel.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes1) Preparing personnel actions to support office operations such as: re-enlistments, separation orders (DD-214), education opportunities, and promotions. 2) Utilizing human resource automated systems to ensure files for personnel are kept current. 3) Reviewing human resource actions for compliance in accordance with regulatory guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources or Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: LeadershipManaging Human ResourcesTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
