You will serve as a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Recruiting Division of Naval Acquisition Career Center (NACC), Assistant for Administration, Secretary of the Navy (AAUSN) NACC FIELD OFC.
Duties
You will formulate and apply security policy, procedures, systems, and programs involving the loyalty and reliability of people seeking entry and retention in sensitive positions.
You will interpret and develop general policy direction for application on a DON-wide basis.
You will review requests for security clearances and special accesses.
You will decide whether security clearances should be granted, suspended, revoked, or denied.
You will provide authoritative information and assistance to management advising on personnel security policies and related matters on the impact of personnel security requirements on DON-wide/NADP mission.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience with personnel Security-Apply personnel security principles and methods to process initial investigations, clearances, periodic re-investigations, and clearance
upgrades/downgrades, suspension, revocations, terminations, reinstatements and to complete the adjudication, and appeals processes. Experience with evaluating internal and external
security clearance requests and ensures applicant's actions are consistent with regulatory requirements. Experience with analyzing and reporting on clearance and appeals findings to
senior security officials and makes appropriate notifications. Experience with anticipating and meeting the needs of both internal and external
customers. Experience with delivering high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous Improvement.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
