About the Position: Supervisory Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist/Geologist, Louisville Engineering Division, Environmental Branch, Louisville, KY.
Duties
Advise higher authorities on actions related to Division's military and support for environmental engineering programs to include Hazardous, Toxic, and Radiological Waste (HTRW) and the civil works projects assigned to Louisville District.
Resolve complex and controversial technical or policy matters that often involves other branches/offices.
Provide authoritative recommendations on environmental programs to Branch Chief.
Advise Branch Chief on long range plans, objectives, and policies for environmental programs
Direct a staff of approximately 15 professional, technical, and administrative employees sometimes through team leaders.
Ensure that goals and objectives of section are implemented in accordance with Engineering Division policy and procedures, and commitments to customers.
Determine best approach or solution for adjusting expenditures due to income shortfalls and plans for long range staffing needs, including contracting out, based on projected workload.
Use Project Review Meetings and Project Delivery Board input and feedback as well as other tools to assure that performance of section is timely, productive, and good quality.
Provide HTRW engineering support to other districts when requested.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation dtd 23 Mar 2006.
- Professional License required (Submit with application). Professional Engineer license for Engineering series. Professional Geologist license for Geology series. Professional Scientist license for the Physical Scientist series.

In addition to meeting one of the basic requirements above, in order to qualify for this position you must also meet specialized experience.
Specialized experience for Supervisory Interdisciplinary GS-13:One year of specialized experience equivalent which includes serving as a technical resource in, and applying leadership skills on interdisciplinary teams performing, complex and comprehensive functions related to the administration, development and execution of an extensive environmental assessment, evaluation and remediation program. Must demonstrate high-level communication skills and experience providing opinions or advice to stakeholders and leadership on environmental concepts. Experience in keeping abreast of state-of-the-art technology and acquisition methods, and developing and organizing resources to meet environmental project goals that include in-house investigation, assessment, design and construction oversight, and management of similar contract services for both military and civil works projects. Experience in being an active member of interdisciplinary team maintaining communication with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds to accomplish project goals and timelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
