Duties

Provides state of the practice recommendations for construction of dam or levee construction projects greater than $50M in total contract value. Establish and/or maintain trusting working relationships within the Corps and with other agencies in dam and levee safety. Oversees a group of multi-disciplined engineers and scientists including assigning work, preparing performance elements, and executing performance evaluations. Utilize dam and levee safety engineering techniques to provide solutions to common problems. Provides guidance to the administrative and program management team in efficiently and effectively resolving operational challenges. Provides advice for risk analysis of dam and levee safety projects to assess potential failure modes and the need to mitigate them.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires proof of Professional Engineering or Geologist license (NOTE: PLEASE UPLOAD A COPY).
  • One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

Perform risk analysis for dams, levees or other critical water resource infrastructure. Coordinate program management for engineering studies and risk management to include expenditures, performance and progress. Prepare and review technical engineering products, reports, and design packages. Lead and train junior staff/engineers and technicians. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Civil Engineering SpecialtyDesignLeadershipProblem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
