About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Detroit Arsenal, in Warren, Michigan.
Duties
Serve as an Action Officer for the Logistics Readiness Center, responsible for assigned projects and actions in support of multifunctional logistics support operations functions.
Participate in all aspects of logistics planning functions which cross the internal and external organization lines of Maintenance, Supply, and Transportation.
Assist in the completion of logistic plans and operations which require the writing of staff studies, decision papers, information papers, local policy, local directives, and related correspondence.
Analyze logistics activities and make recommendations for improvement of and changes in the program operations.
Review Performance Work Statements for contracts, serve as contracting officer representative on smaller logistical contracts, and provide technical assistance to inspectors and contracting officers.
Provide input to the development and execution of mobility and contingency plans.
Assist senior staff on portions of complex studies in response to problem areas and emerging situations; and provide information needed to monitor and change logistics operations.
Prepare and present detailed briefings, information papers, decision papers, fact sheets, and other official correspondences in support of special plans and projects.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position may require the incumbent to work possible 2nd or 3rd shift rotations.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Planning, coordinating, and/or evaluating logistical actions; 2) Assisting with the development of emergency, mobility and/or contingency plans; and 3) Preparing and/or presenting reports or briefings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or another related field.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
