About the Position: The incumbent will serve as the civilian military Human Resources Assistant with the responsibility for the independent processing of a variety of military personnel transactions and/or review and verification of transactions and reports for factual accuracy, procedural and substantive sufficiency.
Duties
Conduct thorough reviews of incoming military personnel actions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Communicate with military personnel, military dependents, and civilian employees to determine military action requirements.
Ensure all essential personnel data recorded and submitted properly in a timely basis.
Utilize automation equipment and various software programs to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print a variety of documents for the organization.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1.) Reviewing, coordinating, and/or processing a wide range of military and/or civilian personnel actions; 2.) Utilizing a wide range of office automation systems such as Microsoft Office; 3.) Reviewing and evaluating personnel files to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; and 4.) Utilizing HR automation systems to generate reports, answer inquiries, and/or provide guidance on HR matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
