Duties

You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the SYSTEMS SUPPORT BRANCH (2322) of the ORDNANCE SYSTEMS ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT (23) located in YORKTOWN, VA. You will diagnose equipment malfunction through the use of system analysis, test equipment, and schematics. You will operate and analyze equipment/systems to diagnose and isolate discrepancies which cannot be located and corrected through established procedures. You will compile records of system/equipment failures, actions taken, and costs involved. You will assist higher graded technicians in the diagnosis, resolution, and repair for specific maintenance/equipment problems for one or more complex engineering studies in support of new electronic equipment/systems.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying practical knowledge of the theories, principles, and techniques of electronics and the ability to apply this knowledge to the accomplishment of difficult, but well-precedented projects. Experience analyzing engineering literature, procedures and technical drawings. Experience making sound decisions using basic engineering principles. Experience demonstrating the capacity to comprehend and apply measurement practices while working independently as well as the ability to show linear progression in dealing with problems. Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:

Successful completion of at least two full years of graduate education
OR
Successful completion of a master's degree
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
