You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the METROLOGY ENGINEERING BRANCH of NMC ORD SYS ENG MGMT.

Duties

You will plan, organize and execute the noise management project. You will determine basic type of instrumentation and equipment required for the project. You will evaluate design proposals and hardware implementation for advanced system concepts. You will ensure National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceability for Phase Noise measurements and calibration/repair certification is maintained. You will provide technical assistance to NWSC Crane concerning phase noise calibration equipment upgrades and system alterations. You will perform analysis of coherent signal problems encountered on individual instrument, or group of instruments and determine underlying cause and possible fix. You will determine inventory needs based on In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) requirements and failure analysis. You will develop and maintain spare quantities necessary to achieve and support equipment availability for the MK666 NTR (Noise Test Set) Units.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Incumbent may be required to work overtime.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.

Qualifications

To qualify for the ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN, GS-0856-11, your resume must demonstrate at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in Continuous Wave Illuminator (CWI) operations including Phase Noise measurements, accuracy assessments, component sensitivities, loop gain, etc. Experience with the Navy Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) Program's operational standards and procedural technical guidance. Experience applying a wide range of technical electronics, electrical theory and electromechanical test and software theory. Experience providing technical guidance and directional assistance to all technicians assigned to the noise measurement project; Experience conducting engineering studies in support of new methods for Calibration. Experience developing and evaluating proposed calibration system changes in software and hardware. Experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing to present findings, briefings and reports to program and agency personnel.
