Conduct a broad public affairs program with responsibility for planning, designing, executing, and evaluating the most difficult and complex national media relations programs and strategies. Directs public affairs programs to promote and implement the agency's programs and mission to inform national media, specialized and general publics.

Duties

Directs public affairs programs that promote and implement the agency's programs and mission to inform national media, specialized and general publics. Plans, directs and executes national campaigns to convey complex information concerning programs, research on program-related areas, responsibilities, and activities. Performs the full range of administrative and technical supervisory duties. Manages the resources of the public affairs office.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% or more.
  • You must obtain and maintain a SECRET Security clearance.

Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03/GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Developing and implementing public affairs plans, policies, and procedures. 2) Providing advice and guidance to senior leaders on complex public affairs matters and inquiries from the media. 3) Preparing/presenting organizational briefings to a variety of stakeholders, overseeing all organizational messaging (e.g. newsletters, media releases, etc.) 4) AND performing personnel management responsibilities (Such as Team leading, Team Supervising). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-03/GS-13).
