About the Position: Serves as the functional administrator for Installation Personnel and Pay System- Army (IPPS-A), with responsibilities of a wide variety of procedural and substantive duties associated wtih the automated processing of military personnel actions and adminsitration.
Duties
As a Human Resources Specialist (Information Systems/Military), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
Reports technical (programming) deficiencies to higher headquarters for resolution.
Manages and establishes access controls for several existing automated personnel database systems and pay systems relevant to division and installation level.
Ensures accuracy and timeliness of the data input relevant to the installation’s strength accountability.
Monitors database changes, manages system security, and maintains security of files and systems within the PAB.
Reviews all regulations and directives pertaining to Army HR database security to determine impact on local procedures
Provides instructions on proper input into the automated systems and advises on regulations, procedures, and problems
Retrieves data from various information sources (iPerms, DFAS, IPPS-A) for use in answering questions, responding to correspondence, or preparing reports and briefings.
Troubleshoots, repairs, or replaces equipment as needed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) operating and/or maintaining automated systems supporting military personnel programs such as Integrated Personnel and Pay System- Army (IPPS-A), Interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System (iPERMS), or military human resource records; 2) advising stake holders on technical guidance for personnel systems; and 3) providing customer support to all system users. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
