About the Position: Serve as the installation technical expert on all matters related to Military Personnel Management Division functions. This position is only open to CURRENT Fort Leavenworth Directorate of Human Resources, Military Personnel Division employees within the local commuting area.

Duties

As the Supv HR Specialist (Military), you will perform the following duties: Serves as the Human Resources Specialist (Military) and Chief, Human Resources Branch. Interprets regulations and procedures when technical questions arise, or when new or revised procedures are involved. Serves as consultant and advisor to the Chief, Military Personnel Division /Adjutant General, the mission and garrison commanders' staff, and installation leadership on all matters concerning officer, warrant officer, or enlisted personnel actions. Serves as the AG Mobilization Planner and Coordinator. Ensures Information System Security procedures are met, including network access and physical security for the government MPD staff and contractors. Serves as the Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS) Site Security Manager responsible for the accountability and all equipment used for the issuance of various types of ID Cards. Assists in planning, directing, and coordinating operations. First line supervisor for civilian employees. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, workload, and difficulty of assignments.

Current Civilian Employees of the Organization In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: manages a wide variety of military human resources programs that includes but not limited to military awards and decorations, medical boards, and personnel reassignments; planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of a military personnel branch; and reviewing military personnel regulations and directives to recommend changes on improving work techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: HR Information Systems ApplicationManaging Human ResourcesOral CommunicationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
