Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Public Health Advisor, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: -Serving as a health information content lead with responsibilities for developing and editing a wide range of health content for various audiences, including health professionals, patients and the public. -Representing a program or subject matter area which is well developed at National and regional levels and applied to projects and activities of medium size and complexity, as measured by the funding, type of resources provided, impact on communities, and other relevant considerations -Performing various support functions, such as, assessing, collecting, evaluating and synthesizing data, and preparing operational projects and activities for progress, performance, and conformity with Federal requirements and recommends corrective actions when necessary. -Meeting with responsible health officials on important matters of program application and to persuade them to adopt procedures and practices which meet Federal specifications. ** Duties as shown are at the full performance level (FPL) of the GS-13. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the FPL.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: For GS-9 and GS-11: Completed a bachelor's degree or higher with a major study in public health or other field of study with course work directly related to the work of the position to be filled. [Transcripts must be provided] -OR Must have experience that provided: - Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. - Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. - Knowledge of a specialized public health program. - Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. - Skill in oral and written communication, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. -AND- Minimum Qualifications: Specialized Experience for GS-09: In addition to the basic qualification requirement above, you must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: 1. Applying qualitative or quantitative techniques to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, and devise alternatives and/or recommended solutions. 2. Developing and reviewing materials such as reports and data calls to advise management on public health policies, operations, products, and services and contribute to the improvement of public health programs. -OR - EDUCATION: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with major study in public health or other field of study with course work directly related to the work of the position to be filled, or LL.B. or J.D., if related. [Transcripts must be provided] -OR - COMBINATION: Education and experience may be combined to meet the specialized experience requirement as described above. [Transcripts must be provided] Specialized experience for GS-11: In addition to the basic qualification requirement above, you must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: 1. Preparing responses to inquiries, project papers, reports, proposals, policies, and/or other substantive program material. 2. Analyzing unconventional public health problems or circumstances, inconclusive facts or data. 3. Providing substantive program guidance and technical assistance to various public, private, and nonprofit health and health-related agencies and organizations. -OR- Education: Successful completion of at least three (3) full years (54 semester/81 quarter credits) of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or LL.M., if related in an accredited U.S. education program.
