Serve as a secretary to the Chief and Assistant Chief of the Dental Service at the VA medical Center in San Juan, within the VA Caribbean HCS.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Refer important business and high-ranking visitants to the Chief, Dental Service.
Supporting the administrative and dental staff by serving as a key contact person with dental eligibility clerk, veterans, relatives, employees and visitors in the routine daily situations that arise.
Ensure the distribution of the monthly On Duty Rosters.
Coordinate meetings with the Puerto Rico School of Dentistry and the Chief of Dental Service.
Act as a surrogate for the Chief of Dental Service in emails.
Serve as an ADPAC and attend the monthly ADPAC Committee meetings.
Collect information needed to prepare annual reports and Management Briefings when required.
Act as a Timekeeper.
File all documents in the office filing system.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/07/2024.
This position requires a typing requirement of 40 words per minute.
For this position, you must be: (1) Must be proficient in spoken and written English. (2) Must be proficient in spoken Spanish.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Receive visitors; place calls, take and relays messages; keep a calendar and schedule appointments; keep an agenda and minutes; transcribe letters, memoranda, and general correspondence; keep binders; prepare necessary travel forms; act as a timekeeper; and assist employees..

Physical Requirements: Most of the work can be performed while seated. There is some walking, standing, bending and carrying light items such as books and papers. Work is performed in a safe air-conditioned environment.
