This position serves as the Secretary (OA) to the Chief, Radiology Service of the VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS), San Juan Puerto Rico. The Secretary is responsible for performing a wide range of secretarial duties designed to ensure and efficient and effective operation. This position provides support to Radiology administrative and clinical personnel and, coordinates with the UPR School of Medicine the Radiology Resident activities.
Duties
Responsible for the non-quality part of initial credentialing and re-credentialing for 16 Staff Radiologist in every two (2) years.
Provides coaching and educating all physicians at the time they apply for initial appointment.
Prepares the Service reporting memo for the Professional Standard Board and provides all required documentation to the Credentialing and Privileging office.
Oversee gathering provider specific data such as workload, number and type of procedures and associated complications, compliments, complaints, required trainings such as Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, Moderate Sedation and pertinent mandatory trainings, peer performed record reviews, etc.
Track and gather information on providers requiring a Focus Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and sets timeframes for follow to comply with timely reporting to the PSB.
Process documentation for rotation at Radiology Service from residents of Diagnostic Radiology Program and students from Radiology Technology programs.
Maintain the Chief of Radiology daily calendar
Takes responsibility for administrative matters and maintains control of channels of communication between the Service Chief and Section Chiefs, VACHS offices, VISN Offices, Central Office, accrediting agencies, and universities.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/30/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Setting timeframes for follow to comply with timely reporting. Receiving and directing telephone calls and greeting visitors. Preparing correspondence, reports, and other documents based on information gathered from program files or other records. Establishing and maintaining program files and records. Process incoming and outgoing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication. Skills in operating automated data processing equipment and knowledge of word processing programs. Proper use of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and commonly used specialized terminology to prepare written material correctly. Note: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hour worked per week.
