About the Position: Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year round including surfing, paddling, diving, fishing, and hiking. Duties

Serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Manager for the Command. Participate in the maintenance of a comprehensive safety and occupational health program by assessment of the following potential hazards. Work with other military components Safety personnel in the establishment of realistic safety requirements and validation of compliance with applicable directives and regulations. Develop and administer a command-wide safety and occupational health program and establish guidelines and criteria to control and eliminate serious hazards involving field or garrison operations conducted by the Army. Participate in staff assistance visits to various subordinate and servicing organizations to observe, evaluate and insure adequacy and effectiveness of the accident prevention effort. Provide technical expertise to commanders and staff in the resolution of broad, complex operational and environmental problems.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Managing safety and occupational health programs such as Radiation, Range, Tactical, and Explosive safety programs; and (2) Assisting in the review and development of safety and occupational health programs, policies and procedures; and (3) Performing risk management and development of deviation approval and risk acceptance document (DARAD); and (4) Conducting staff surveys of unit safety program compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
