Duties

Serve as a Safety and Occupational Program Manager for the Command. Participate in the maintenance of a comprehensive safety and occupational health program by assessment of the following potential hazards. Work with other military components Safety personnel in the establishment of realistic safety requirements and validation of compliance with applicable directives and regulations. Review safety policies, procedures, and regulations published by the Department of the Army (DA) and the Department of Defense (DoD) and determine the impact on the safety practices. Develop and prepares supplements to guidelines developed by a higher command or Army staff principals, and initiates written procedures implementing technical safety standards, codes, and safety requirements for operations or activities.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Position is designated as Emergency Essential in support of the Army mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increased tension or mobilization.
  • Position requires medical screening and vaccinations. Must pass a pre-employment examination.
  • May be required to deploy on 24 hour notice at such times as directed to participate as member of a deployment teams.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
