Duties
You will serve as an Army Field Support Brigade, Army Field Support Battalion, or Logistics Readiness Center safety and Occupational Health Specialist responsible for planning, scheduling, and overseeing the assigned unit safety and health programs.
You will plan, schedule, and conduct/access safety readiness through safety assessments/inspections of unit worksites.
You will evaluate a wide variety of potential hazards related to the unit mission.
You will provide leaders with risk mitigation courses of action and assists in implementation of corrective actions of hazardous conditions as necessary.
You will resolve inspection findings, trends, and military-related safety problems involving new industrial techniques or experimental operations wherein there are no identified guidelines or precedents.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Performance of duties requires up to 25% TDY of time in travel status.
- Must have a valid US driver's license.
- This position may require the incumbent to work holidays, weekends, and on-call basis.
- This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program.
- Signing of a DA Form 5019 acknowledging periodic random drug testing requirements is mandatory prior to being placed into this position.
- Those individuals not currently occupying a TDP position must successfully complete a pre-appointment drug test prior to being placed into this position.
- Incumbent must complete all required training and achieve the FP-12 Level 1 and Explosives Safety Level 1 professional certificates within 12 months, as outlined in the 0018 job series Master Training Plan.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards; and inspecting industrial operations in maintenance and supply, processes for compliance with safety and occupational health policies; and identify potential safety hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
