About the Position:
This position will be working directly in support of Foreign Military Sales (FMS).
Duties
Serves as a Data Scientist within the Foreign Military Sales Division (FMSD) of the Army Contracting Command (ACC).
Responsible for planning, conducting, and presenting complex contracting and financial systems analyses in support of the Army Contracting Command (ACC).
Initiates and conducts analytic studies involving broad and varied subject matters in the areas of Army contracting and procurement.
Exercises technical responsibility for publishing reports relating to specific analysis accomplishment and for the exhaustive interpretation of these results.
Maintains technical proficiency and applies new methods relating to data science, systems analysis, and operations research with particular emphasis on areas relevant to assigned responsibilities.
Presents briefings to Army senior leadership summarizing significant results of completed studies.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position.
- Selectees must meet position requirements for certification at Level Practitioner in the Acquisition Career Field Engineering and Technical Management within 60 months of entrance on duty.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position requires submission of Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually thereafter.

Basic Requirement for Data Scientist:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:
1) Formulating analytical/mathematical procedures to solve operational data problems; AND
2) Planning and conducting, as project lead or member of a study team, relevant research, and analytical studies of Army problems to support critical operational problems and/or decisions; AND
3) Creating and presenting analytical reports for senior leadership.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11).
